Welcome to the Future!
It is the 25th Century, and All Hell's Broken Loose...
On one side...Humanity has been in space for close to 400 years, and in that time has met new and fascinating Challenges. Humanity has also found terrors un paralleled in it's entire Past. The Humans have been through 2 Major Wars, 1 Civil war, and countless threats from an alien race called the "Sardan Empire" The Humans and the Andromeodans have forged a partnership known as the Interstellar Alliance. The core of this Alliance is the Earth Defense Group (EDG). while the Andromeodans are fierce warriors, The humans have a knack for technology, and have control of some very prosperous star systems. Also in the Interstellar Alliance, is a race called the Xenonians. A rather reclusive race. Once conquered by the EDG, The Xenonians have become a partner in the alliance, contributing massive numbers of people, and highly advanced knowledge of Engineering. Most of the Interstellar Alliance's Engineers are Xenonians. Also Xenonians are an offshoot of the race Solarans.....
In the Middle.... A very powerful but small Empire of only one star system: The Solarans. The Solarans are the Keepers of the Gate. Between the chartable areas of space lies Great Abysses. They stretch between the arms of the galaxy for great distances. The OLD ONES Made them Eons before Mankind were using fire. The Solarans are thought to be the descendants of the Old Ones, and Have maintained the Great Star gates. Portals between the known sectors of space. While the Solarans Watch and maintain the Star gates, the Xenonians do much the same on the Earth Side of their Star Gate. No race has ever dared to attempt an attack on the Solarans or the Star gates while they have kept the watch. and the Solarans have never chosen any sides or allies.....
On the other side...The Sardan empire. The Sardans are an old race. Cannibals by nature, eating their dead enemies, and conquering worlds as they seem fit. The Sardan Empire is run by the CLAN COUNCIL. The Clan Council has never trusted Humans. Their belief is that the Human Infestation of the Galaxy must stop! And All who ally themselves with the Humans, gain the wrath of the Sardan Empire. The Sardans Do have an Ally. A reletively newcomer, the Omegans. The Omegans are a very prolific race, like the Xenonians. Controlling over 50 star systems. Their enemies are now slaves in the Omegan Republic. Like the Sardans, They despise the Humans. The Omegans however have another goal.......TO Destroy the Star gate, and subjugate the Solarans.... While they have never tried it, it is an ambition of the high war council.
There are very few rules in space.........
Many of the Empires, Councils and republics have agreed to only one concept. There is no peace. Each Government runs their areas in different ways. The great reaches of space has become Feudal....Small Groups of people from different Empires have set up their own little governments. These Small Empires are not always nice to deal with...Many harbor Pirates (the only group that is universally hated, and hunted throughout each Empire. In space, there are no flags and you never can tell who the enemy is. Individuals can find ships that were partially destroyed or in their own quests can and do take over enemy ships. This means that just because it looks like a friendly ship, it may not be. While adventurers may be on a planet, it is possible that you could run across new aliens, some are friendly.....some are not! Or a player could just as easily run across a not so new alien......and they can be just as deadly. A player may never know if the alien or ship that they encounter is a real player or a NON-PLAYER CHARACTER (NPC)....NPC's are figments, that are created by the Game master....for shall we say.......Entertainment. the only real rules come from limitations of weapons, starships, character abilities, things of this nature. There will be no one to tell you that you cant simply walk up to a person and shoot them....however...that is not always the wisest of choices.....
In version 2.0 that is upcoming after the original game runs, there will be newer maps, races, and dangers added. Also there will be newer opportunities. I have been running 25th Century Warlords as a Role Playing Game (RPG) since 1982. For almost all of this time it has been in the "tried and true" paper and pencil version. While that version is still in play today, I wanted to find a way to introduce 25th Century, to a much more diverse, and wide audience. I sincerely hope that your experience with this game is enjoyable, and complete. I will be monitoring, and upgrading as necessary. I anticipate that during the Beta Test Phase (BTP) that there will be difficulties to overcome, and any suggestions will be welcome! I will be available for comment at killerkane2k@hotmail.com and look forward to your comments, both good and bad.
